The French delegation's Visit to some Historical Sites in Dakahlya Governorate

Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hassan KenawyPresident of Mansoura University, Prof. Ashraf Mohammed Swelem; Vice-president of Mansoura University for Postgraduates and Research Affairs, and the leadership of Prof. Amina Ibrahim Shalaby; Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Mansoura University, Prof. Nehad Kamal Eldeen Sayed;Vice-dean for Postgraduates Studies and Research Affairs,and in the proceedings of the workshop, which is run  by the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University from the first to the third of November 2017, under the title of "The Methodology of Scientific Research in Ancient Egypt", a field visit was organised to some archaeological and historical sites on Wednesday; 1st of November 2017. The visit was honoured to host some keynote archaeologists, as well as the keynote members of the French delegation from the French Institutes of Oriental Antiquities "Institut Francais D'Archeologie Oriental (IFAO)" including:

-         Dr. Laurent Bavay;Archaeologist, Egyptologist and Director the IFAO.

-         Dr. Frédéric Guyot;Archaeologist and Scientific Member of the IFAo.

-         Dr. Nicolas Michel;Historian of the Ottoman Period and Research Director at the IFAO.

-         Dr. Felix Relats Montserrat;Archaeologist, Egyptologist and Scientific Member of the IFAO.

-         Prof. Hassan Selim;Egyptologist, Scientific Expert at the IFAO and Professor of Egyptology, Faculty of Arts – Ain Shams University.

-         Ass. Prof. Eltayeb Abbas;Egyptologist, Associate Researcher at the IFAO and Assistant professor, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Minia University.  

The visit was also honoured by the presence of:

-         Prof. Huessien Haggag;Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Applied Arts – Damietta University.

-         Prof. Nehad kamal Eldeen Sayed,Professor and Head of the Archaeology Department, Faculty of Arts – Mansoura University and Vice-dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

-         Ass. Prof. Rehab Mahmoud Al- Sharnouby;Assistant Professor and Head of Tourism Guidance Department, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

-         Ass. Prof. Nermine Mahmoud Shoukry;Assistant Professor of Tourism Guidance Department, Faculty of tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

-         Dr. Mona Ezz Ali;Lecturer of Tourism Guidance Department, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

-         Dr. Karim Ahmed Abd El-Fattah;Lecturer of Tourism Guidance, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

-         Dr. Ahmed Adel Hammad; Lecturer of Tourism Studies, the Faculty of tourism and Hotels – Mansoura University.

Some important archeological and religious sites were visited, including for instance:

1-    Tell El- Rub'a "Mendes"which was the capital of Egypt in the twenty-ninth dynasty. It includes remnants of a temple dates back to the Ramesside period and Saite period. The site also includes remnants of some coffins of sacred ram, a cemetery dates back to the old kingdom and the sacred lake.

2-    Behbeet El- Hagar, which includes the remnants of Isis Temple that dates back to the late period.

3-    Saint Demiana Monastery.
