Workshop: "Soft Skills and the Art of Communication in the Tourism Sector" – Graduate Follow-up Unit

On Sunday, 23rd February 2025, the Graduate Follow-up Unit organised a workshop titled "Soft Skills and the Art of Communication in the Tourism Sector" as part of the professional development programmes for graduates for the academic year 2024/2025. The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Doaa Samir Hizah, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. The workshop was organised by Dr. Esraa Ahmed Abdel Meguid, Director of the Graduate Follow-up Unit, and coordinated by Ms. Norhan Gamal, Graduate Follow-up and Employment Coordinator for Tourism Studies Graduates. The session was attended by Dr. Ibrahim Alouha, Chairman of the Board of Al-Hilal Tourism Company and Member of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, along with faculty members, teaching assistants, senior-year students, and alumni of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels. Delivered by Dr. Hossam Hamed Hazzah, Chairman of Egyptian Travel Makers Tourism Company and Member of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, the workshop explored the importance of soft skills in the tourism sector, covering key aspects such as communication skills, customer service, time management, teamwork, flexibility, negotiation skills, and emotional intelligence. It also addressed the specific skills required for different departments within tourism companies, including sales and marketing, reservations and ticketing, public relations, customer service, operations, financial management, and human resources. The session concluded with a discussion on fostering a collaborative work environment, enhancing teamwork and communication skills, and leveraging modern technology to improve performance, followed by a Q&A segment where attendees' inquiries were addressed.
